This had better be a mistake

Got a note yesterday saying I need to move to Resnik (another dorm) by Sep. 23. Lots of other people got the same note this morning, including my new roommate, and we're all agreed there's no freaking way we're dragging all our stuff to another dorm after two months so we can live there for another three months. There's no earthly reason I can think of to move us, besides to create more work for themselves and more aggravation for us.

Resnik is closer to both school and another supermarket, but it has fewer showers, the rooms aren't in as good a condition, and no internet access. And I already know my roommates here. Nari and I bought a pot and frying pan together. They're like our children. Who would get what if they put us in different rooms? They can't make us make those kinds of decisions.

I talked to the dorm lady this morning, who was clearly exasperated by all the calls she was getting. She said there was some mistake, she didn't know what was going on, but for now the decision is on hold. She didn't say that no one would be moving though. In fact, she said that it's likely some people will be moved. Maybe even within the building they're living in already. Is there any reason why that would have to be done.

Forget it.

I'm sorry you might have to move. It's tough to start to feel at home & then be uprooted. I wonder if some returning students who are not in Ulpan have priority somehow. I'm sure you guys will protest it as far as possible & hopefully they'll change their minds about such an upheaval. Doesn't seem like a good idea at all. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Love, Mom
